NetTreasury was established in 2001 with the majority of the shareholding being held by management and staff. NetTreasury is BEE compliant, and more than 45% of its shareholding is currently held by BEE individuals and 50% BEE management control. The remaining shares are held by venture capital investors.

NetTreasury is staffed by a multi disciplinary team comprising of experts in the banking, treasury operations, global resources, corporate finance, technology and project management sectors.
